College Connect

Great News! Northern Arizona University (NAU) has an LCMS University Campus ministry called Peace College Connect – Peace Lutheran provides parents and students with a Christian church community supporting them as they pursue their education.

Operation Christmas Child

Each year Peace Lutheran prepares between 200+ shoe boxes in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. Boxes are filled with hygiene items (toothbrushes & toothpaste, bar soap, comps, washcloths), school supplies (pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, coloring books), accessories (t-shirts, shoes, socks, hair clips, flashlights), small toys (yo-yos, jump ropes, toy cars), and prayers for boys and girls ages 2-14.

Packing Hope Action Team

Join us to help pack “Welcome” kits for women at Hope Cottage, our local women’s and children’s shelter. The kits include bibles, a prayer box, hygiene items, and fun socks! Our goal is to pack around 100 bags every six months. We pray these items will be a comfort to the women who receive them

LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League)

The LWML group has been preparing packages of crocheted prayer squares to give to people in the community. These hand-sized crocheted squares have a cross sewn into them and can be easily carried throughout the day as a reminder of the power of prayer. Thank you to Judy and Susan for sharing their time and talents in crocheting these beautiful squares!

Supporting Lutheran Missionaries in Africa

Dr. Rev. Walter Steele and his wife Robyn are Lutheran missionaries and teachers in east Africa. The Steele’s Mission is funded entirely by donations. Our congregation recently collected $1,145 to help support their outreach in sharing God’s Love and Word with people in Africa. Our goal is to continue to support them financially and prayerfully. Thanks be to God for the Steeles and all others who have been called to serve as missionaries, pastors, and teachers in the US and throughout the world!

Faith in Action Team – Food Bank Donations

The Faith in Action Team regularly sponsors food drives to help support the Flagstaff Family Food Center. As we give thanks for all we have been given, we want to remember those who need help putting food on their tables. During our most recent food drive, members donated around 800 lbs of food to help neighbors in need.

Supporting Acts of Kindness (AOKFlag.org)

We’re collecting calendars and pet food to support AOKFlag’s outreach to at-risk elderly.

Military Bible Sticks

Help bring Hope to our Heroes by sponsoring a MilitaryBibleStick for a service member and their family.  Donations for sponsoring the purchase of bible sticks also can be made at our church office. $25 sponsors one service member and their family. If you are a veteran seeking a military bible stick, please contact our church office.

Supporting the Purchase of Bibles

Over the past several years, we have collected donations to help purchase Bibles for the Voice of the Martyrs. Recently $466 was collected, plus a matching fund donation of $470, for a total of $936. The total amount was enough to purchase 156 Bibles!

Jail Outreach & Support Groups

Each year we collect Christmas cards and stamps for inmates housed at the county jail. Contact the church office if you have questions.

Members of our congregation help support programs at the Coconino County Detention Facility including prayer, bible study, special events such as Christmas caroling, and collecting stamps and cards.

We also work with several support groups in providing them with a safe space to hold their meetings.

Pumpkin Patch & Trunk or Treat

Peace Lutheran sponsors an annual fall event for school-aged children. Originally the event was known as the Pumpkin Patch with between 500-1000 children attending. At the Pumpkin Patch they enjoyed story time, visited Imagination Hill, and selected a pumpkin to take home. In recent years, the church has been sponsoring a Trunk or Treat event.

Community Benefit Thrift Sale

Our Benefit Thrift Sale traditionally occurs during August. While we haven’t hosted the Thrift Sale in recent years, we hope to bring it back soon. In 2018, we raised over $600 for CASA – Coconino Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Valentines Dance & Social

For several years, Peace Lutheran with support from Thrivent sponsored a local Valentines Dance & Social. The event was a fun way to enjoy music, dance, and opportunity to serve others. In 2018, we raised $900 from silent auction and ticket funds which was donated to benefit hurricane victims of Puerto Rico. Thanks to the many community businesses and individuals who provided auction items for these events!

Prayer Chain

Have you ever had family, friends, or yourself suffer from illness or fall victim to an accident? Did a personal relationship cause heartache or did a tragedy befall you or someone you know?  Are you concerned for someone overseas? Do you want to share your gratitude for blessings such as a new baby or a new job?

God loves us and wants us to turn to Him in our time of need. He also rejoices when we rejoice and give Him praise and thanks. Having others pray with, and/or for you, is another way to open our hearts and minds to dialogue with our Lord.

Peace Lutheran Church has a group of dedicated and loving people who care about you and yours and will accept prayer requests anytime. If you have a prayer request or if you would like to become a part of this Prayer Chain Ministry, please contact our Prayer Chain Chair.

Jesus says, “For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them.”  (Matthew 18:20) Prayer does indeed change things.
